Beams and Cables > Cross-section Parameters

Viewing and editing the assigned cross-section parameters of beam and cable elements

SettingDescription
From/To/Step Element series, for which the section properties are input/modified.
Element type Type of the element(s)  (see Structure > Elements > Info )
Aero class Aero class of the element describing the wind behavior
EccType Type of eccentricity definition
SettingDescription
YoZo no cross-section eccentricity considered (reference point = CoG)
YlZo cross-section eccentricity in y direction considered
YoZl cross-section eccentricity in z direction considered
YlZl cross-section eccentricity in y and z direction considered
Radio button Cross-section/Specific value
SettingDescription
Cross-section The element cross-section is defined by assigning geometrically defined cross-sections (named objects) at begin and end of the element.
Specific value The element stiffness is defined by direct specification of the relevant parameters (CS area, moments of inertia, etc.)
Cross-section Begin/End
SettingDescription
CS Name of the cross-section at begin or end of the first element of the             series
Step-Type Step in the variant number of the cross-section name from element to             element in the series
Specific values
SettingDescription
Ax Cross-section area of the element
Ay, Az Shear area for shear in y or z direction respectively
Ix Torsional moment of inertia
Iy, Iz Moments of inertia for bending around y and z respectively
U Outside Perimeter length of the cross-section (used for creep calculation)
UIN Any inside perimeter length in hollow box sections
Note: The specific values are element values assumed constant over the element length. If "Cross-section" is selected, these values are calculated by averaging the individual values of the cross-sections at element begin and element end.
